Why Spain?
With 500 million people in 27 nations, Europe is the world's largest trading block. It also has one of the lowest % of evanglical Christians of any area on earth. All other continents surpass Europe in church growth. Though economically prosperous, it is spiritually dark. Spain is no exception.
In one generation, Spain has moved from a third-world status to a leader of the European Union as a dynamic democratic monarchy. About 40% of her forty million population do not attend any church. Of the 60% who are nominally Roman Catholic, less than 5% are involved in the Catholic Church in any meaningful way. Most of Spain is secular with a religious cultural gloss. Most educated people have heard of Protestants but have never met one. Evangelicals comprise less than .5% (that is one half of one percent!) of the population. The Reformation never took off in Spain and today the 45 million people of this great nation are essentially secular. The Spanish people need the gospel. That is why we go to Spain.
