What’s New for November
“Thanksgiving & Giving Thanks”

So, OK, we’re up to 78%. More at the end of this little reflection.

“I have now to ask, whether you can consent to part with your daughter early next spring, to see her no more in this world; whether you can consent to her departure, and her subjection to the hardships and sufferings of missionary life; whether you can consent to her exposure to the dangers of the ocean, to the fatal influence of the southern climate of India; to every kind of want and distress; to degradation, insult, persecution, and perhaps violent death. Can you consent to all this, for the sake of him who left his heavenly home and died for her and for you; for the sake of perishing immortal souls; for the sake of Zion, for the glory of God? Can you consent to all this, in hope of soon meeting your daughter in the world of glory, with the crown of righteousness, brightened with the acclamations of praise which shall redound to her Savior from heathens saved, through her means, from eternal woe and despair?”

Her father let her decide and she said, “Yes”. Adoniram and Ann-Hasseltine Judson spent a life deeply in love with God and one another as they spent their lives for the Christ and the church in India. That was in 1809. Today the missionary task is not over. Over a quarter of the world’s population lack even a church witness and many billions more stand in need of receiving the good news of Jesus’ free grace for themselves.

As we celebrate Thanksgiving, Joanne and I ask you to reflect on this question. Does passion for the gospel drive your life and result in a lifestyle of thanks and self-giving?
Whether you are a student, a worker, a retired person, is the worship of God and the sharing of his story your passion? As the holiday season begins, we challenge you to reflect on this question, and give thanks to our God for his gift found in Jesus Christ.

With only a few thousand in monthly pledges to go, we are closing in on our needed support. If you could consider finding one person to pledge to us or if you could increase your support a bit it would speed us to the field. Please let us know of any pledge changes. As of now, it appears that we will be moving to Salamanca, Spain for a year of intensive language study. Assuming full support by April, we anticipate moving overseas this summer. We give thanks to God for each of you who have hung in there with us during this time of preparation. We especially thank you for your prayers and expressions of love as we anticipate moving to the field. Please pray that God will supply us the needed energy to complete the various tasks needed prior to our departure.

Regards
Bob & Joanne Tanzie
